The Weeknd's latest album, Dawn FM, has risen. The album is described as "a new acoustic realm of The Weeknd's mind," and features a number of artists, including Quincy Jones, Tyler, creator Lil Wayne, and After Hours producer Oneohtrix Point Never. B. Neighbor Jim Carrey appeared on the album and was "delighted to play a part in his symphony." For collectors, the album version includes two covers of Dawn FM's CD collector's editions and vinyl versions designed by artist Robert Petty. The Weeknd, real name Abel Tesfaye, greeted Dawn FM Thursday night by hosting a live stream on Twitch with Amazon Music.
The singer first teased his New Year's Day release with a screenshot of a conversation with his creative director, La Mar Taylor. "Music can heal and that seems more important than putting out another album. Let's just leave the whole thing and enjoy it with the people," Tesfaye wrote in the post. While he has collaborated on singles with several artists over the past year, including FKA Branches and Post Malone, The Weeknd has not released a solo album since After Hours in April 2020.
