Travis Konechny The team announced Wednesday that Airmen striker Travis Konechny and defender Travis Sanheim have entered COVID-19 protocols.
Konecny and Sanheim are the 5th and 6th players to be added to the list in the past 72 hours. Defender Nick Sealer and striker Jackson Keats entered protocols on Monday and were joined on Tuesday by captain Claude Giroud and defender Ivan Provorov.
The team is scheduled to play the Pittsburgh Penguins Thursday night and will need to call up a defender and striker from the Lehigh Valley Phantoms and assign them to the cab squad in order to form a full lineup. Konecny and Sanheim will miss their first game of the season. Derek Brassard's recovery could also fill the attacking position but a decision has yet to be made on whether he will be available for Thursday's match.
Throughout the West Coast trip, Konechny played on the third line with winger Oscar Lindblom and quarterback Morgan Frost, who was originally called up from the Phantoms as a replacement for injured Derek Brassard. Konechni has five goals and 14 assists in 33 games and hasn't scored since November 18.
Sannheim played in the second defensive encounter with Rasmus Restolainen for the majority of the season. On Tuesday against the Anaheim Ducks, Sanheim and Ristolainen formed a top duo with Cam York in his second season debut alongside Justin Braun with Provorov in the protocols. Sanheim has two goals, eight assists, and three goals in 33 games played this season.
Between injury, COVID-19 and the coach's decision, only four Flyers have missed one game this season - Justin Brown, Keith Yandel, James van Remsdyke and Cam Atkinson.
