36-year-old earns the honorary title of "Sir" after being awarded the Knighthood of the Prince of Wales
Lewis Hamilton gets a new title just days after losing a title on the track.
The seven-time Formula One champion was presented a knighthood on Wednesday at Windsor Castle but declined to speak to the media afterwards.
In a controversial final on Sunday, Max Verstappen won his first world championship in the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix with a pass from Hamilton on the final lap of an exciting season. Hamilton was denied his eighth title, a record.
Hamilton was awarded the honorary title of 'Sir' after the Prince of Wales awarded him a Knight of the Order for his services to motorsport.
His mother, Carmen Lockhart, joined the 36-year-old Briton. When congratulating him on his award, Hamilton said: "Thank you."
