The first twister of the year was confirmed in the northern Miami Valley.
Storms Friday produced damaging winds, large hail, excessive rainfall and at least one confirmed tornado plus several tornado warnings that sent local residents scrambling for cover.
Residents of Kettering brazenly woke up Thursday morning to the sirens that usually signal an incoming hurricane. A few weeks after they hit Kentucky, no one would blame them for worrying.
Fortunately, their worries were unnecessary. According to Kettering Dispatch, computer problems have caused occasional sirens, and no severe weather alerts in the area.
Meteorologists on Storm Team 2 have confirmed that there are no severe weather alerts in the Miami Valley. Expect temperatures in the 40s with showers in the morning and then partly cloudy skies for the rest of the day.
